The Woods
Located at the corner of Latoria and Wishart Roads, The Woods is a three-phase development that comprises approximately 120 detached lots, 3 duplex lots, provision for up to 103 townhomes, a school and a park site. (Please see the Woods phasing plan below for lot numbers and locations.) |
The 42 single family lots in Phase 1A-1 (indicated in grey on the phasing plan) were sold to the Royal Bay Builders (See "Builders List" below) and this Phase is now complete. The Westridge townhouse site by Cedar Development Corporation (www.cedardevcorp.com) has also been completed.
Phase 1A-2 of The Woods consists of 59 single family lots and 2 duplex lots (indicated in green on the phasing plan). As in Phase 1A-1, the single family and duplex lots have been sold to the Royal Bay builders for construction of 'spec' homes. The majority of these homes are now complete and 80% have been sold and are occupied.
Phase 1A-3 consists of 19 single family lots and 2 duplex lots (indicated in yellow on the phasing plan). All of these lots are serviced and ready for construction. The 8 ocean-view lots along the top of the ridge are being sold to the public through Pemberton Holmes. 'Spec' homes are being built by the Royal Bay Builders on the remaining 13 lots.

An Overview of "The Woods"
Lot sizes in The Woods are standard (520 - 799 sq.m.)or large (800 - 1199 sq m). At the centre of The Woods is a 2.2 ha site zoned to accommodate an elementary school. Although the School District advised the City of Colwood in 2005 that this site would not be required for a school, discussions are continuing in light of changing enrolment numbers and capacity in adjacent schools. Thoughts about alternate uses for this site such as single-family homes or open space, are not being pursued at this time.
A 1.3 ha park has been developed as a part of Phase 1A-2. On the eastern boundary of the housing is another 3.9 ha park which forms part of the perimeter pathway. This park with it's perimeter pathway affords fine views of the Olympic Mountains.
The western edge of The Woods along Wishart
has a "no cut" buffer which is 10 metres in width. This protects
the trees along the edge as well as provides a visual buffer.
